Skincare for Newborns

Though plain water usually does the job, occasionally a small amount of soap may be required.  If so, use a mild soap containing olive, coconut, or palm oil and possibly herbal extracts such as calendula (all pediatricians recommend avoiding antibacterial soaps). After soaping, replenish the skin’s oils by using a soothing oil or lotion containing saturated oils such as coconut or sesame, with herbs such as calendula or arnica. Few babies are sensitive to these.

Anthrax Vaccine is Dangerous

The anthrax vaccine is neither safe nor effective.  James Turner, a Washington, D.C. attorney, was part of a committee which drafted a citizens’ petition to rule the anthrax vaccine as a Class II dangerous drug, and to stop manufacture of the vaccine. This committee has been fighting the vaccine on behalf of active military personnel who are being required to take the vaccine even though the FDA has never approved it.  The Homeland Security force now wants to “make it available” to the entire population.  Let’s hope they don’t make it a requirement.

The Power of Plants

“Behind the fragrance of a violet and the frail beauty of a rose, lies the most tenacious life-force in the world:  the power of plants to survive.  From the momentous day, a billion or so years back, when the first speck of plant protoplasm puffed its first breath of oxygen into some primeval sea, the collective energy of plants has been directed at the colonization of the world.  The means of their success has been an almost limitless capacity to change, to assume so many shapes, colors, and sizes that some of them, somewhere, always succeed.
